High Country Inn News 2012

11/16/12
Hello Friends and Patrons!

I’ve had several inquiries about a High Tea for the holidays, so am letting you all know that we will plan a Holiday High Tea for Sunday, December 16, at 2 pm here at the High Country Inn.  The first two weekends of December are busy in our area with other events, so that’s about the only date I can plan a tea.  I do hope we can have a nice turnout!  Our high tea is complete with three courses served in a leisurely manner with three different teas offered.  The inn will be decorated for the holidays, and a festive spirit will prevail! Price for the tea is $18 plus tax and gratuity, with children 6-12 $10.  Reservations are needed by December 13 please, earlier if possible!  We can reserve tables for four, six, or eight, with accommodations for more if requested.  Groups are welcome!

Holiday Dinner Parties!!

We are asked often if we will do private dinner parties, and we are most happy to oblige!  We will custom plan your party for six or more, with a choice of menu.  Your table will be set with fine linens and festive dinnerware, and you will enjoy our courteous service and fine food!  Let us know if you would like to entertain your guests with us, or just invite a group to join you for a wonderful dinner here at the High Country Inn!

Also, don’t forget that we still offer special packages for “Romantic Getaways,” which include a full dinner for two, plus lodging and a delicious breakfast the following morning.  These packages make wonderful Christmas gifts for a special couple on your list, and we provide a holiday card certificate suitable for mailing. Prices which include the tax and gratuity range  from $160 to $200.

9/18/12

Hello to everyone!

It’s been a while since you’ve heard from Jo and the High Country Inn!  It’s been a really busy summer, thanks to lots of visitors and activities.  Besides the Northwest, we’ve had overnighters from Sweden, Canada, Germany, Poland, England, and Greece!

Now it’s time to get into the autumn season, and just this morning in the last week of summer, I arranged for the wonderful entertainment we have all come to expect and set the date for our annual OKTOBERFEST!

Date:  Sunday, October 14   2 pm   The High Country Inn   one seating only

Entertainment:  The Whitten Family, Richard, Margaret, and daughter Loren, playing accordion, piano, some songs while everyone enjoys some fancy cheeses, crackers, and of course beverages from our beer and wine bar!

A delightful and delicious Buffet dinner served on our beautiful new blue pine banquet table, hand-crafted by our friend Mike Riccomini.

Menu: Beef Sauerbraten with mashed potatoes and gravy,  Bavarian Pork Roast cooked with caramelized apples and onions; Brats and sauerkraut, Cabbage Rolls, Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage,  hot German Potato Salad, Applesauce, Salad, and of course, Dessert

Follow-up: after Dinner, a Fun Sing-along of popular oompah-pah songs to finish off a wonderful autumn afternoon!

Price for full dinner, including entertainment, appetizers, dessert, and coffee:  $21 person, plus tax and gratuity.

No-host beer and wine bar will be offered, bring your beer stein if you have one!

To reserve, either e-mail or call  me at 476-7570.  Please get )your reservations in by October 9 if possible.

(Did you know that Sauerbraten has to marinate for four days before it is cooked?)

Other tid-bits:  We will be reserving holiday parties again this year, for organizations as well as offices and small companies.  We have also begun to specialize in private dinner parties for groups of six or more, pulling out my nice crystal and sterling ware to set a lovely table to go with the fine meal for special events or company!  Call me if you are interested!

Happy  Autumn !

Mystery Dinner Theater

I am sending this out to our patrons and friends in case any of you would be interested in supporting my pet charity, the local library here in Orofino.  I am donating the use of the inn and my prep and cooking time for the 4-day event, and if you live around the area, I hope you’ll join in the fun!  Below is the information.  If you are not going to be around during July 12-15, I’m sorry you’ll miss it!  We should have a lot of fun, especially with our Idaho Vandals night on Thursday the 12th  and Orofino “Maniacs” night on the 13th.    Feel free to delete this message if you are not interested! Summer Outdoor Book Sale Today, Wednesday!

This week’s Summer Outdoor Book Sale on the lawn of the library will be held from 9 am until 2 pm, and tickets for the play as well as raffle tickets will be available for sale.  Patrons can also buy homemade cookies and enjoy a cup of free lemonade while they browse through the best selection ever of lightly used books!

Tickets for Mystery Dinner Theater

Tickets for the play, entitled “Fatal Football Fever,” can be purchased for a certain evening, either Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, July 12-15, for $75 couple or $30 singles, which includes both the play performance and a delicious full barbeque dinner, to be served buffet “Tailgater” style.  Each night’s event begins at 5:30 with a no-host wine/beer bar on the deck of the High Country Inn. Complimentary appetizers will be served while guests mingle, and find their seats in the High Country Inn’s Sunken Garden, and the play will begin at 6:30 pm.  The play revolves around the serving of dinner, and guests will not miss any of the action!

Sponsorships of Tables Still Available

Local businesses as well as private community members are urged to sponsor a table, either with corporate sponsorships or individual sponsorships, from $100 up to $1000,which are tax-deductible.  IT is hoped to raise enough funds to equip the library with a new copy machine, which benefits all patrons with copy services. Information about sponsorships will be available at the Book Sale, or calls may be made to Jo Moore at 476-7570.

Thursday, Vandals; Friday, Maniacs Night!

All Idaho Vandal aficionados are invited to gather if they can, for Thursday’s (July 12) performance, as a sort of mini-reunion for loyal University of Idaho supporters.  Then on Friday night, (July 13) “Maniacs” night, blue and white will prevail!  Everyone of course is invited to attend any night they choose, and each evening’s performance and dinner will have some added interest with a little football trivia thrown, and making guesses as to “Who Dunnit?”
